Requirements for dental implants

Dental implants are a natural solution to missing teeth compared to dentures. This is because they are teeth that are fixed on the jawbone. This requires good health and the jawbone must be fully developed. Dental implants are not recommended for people who suffer from teeth grinding and teeth clenching, as this puts too much pressure on the implants. In addition to these requirements, it is also important that you have sufficient bone. This is necessary in order to place an implant. For example, if a tooth is missing for a long period of time, the jaw will shrink. In that case, bone reconstruction must take place before dental implants are possible.

What does an implant look like?

An implant looks like a cylinder or a screw and is to replace the root of the missing molar or tooth. Implants are made of titanium. They can be placed in different ways. Process

Are you choosing to have dental implants placed at Besth in Amsterdam? The entire process takes a few months. The process takes place in 3 stages. During the first surgery, the implant is placed in the jaw. After this, it is covered with gums. After about six months, it is fully integrated into your jawbone and you are ready for the next phase. This consists of placing the supports. This serves as an anchor for the replacement tooth. Once this is placed you will enter the final phase of the process. This is the placement of the custom-made tooth for you. The surgeries take a few hours each time and in most cases is under local anesthesia. It may take a little longer or shorter depending on recovery and other factors.

Dental implants offer a permanent solution to your problem. Your teeth look natural and the teeth and/or molar implants are indistinguishable from real teeth. The mouth feel is the same as with your own teeth and the implants last for decades.

Dental implants reimbursement

In some cases, dental implants are fully reimbursed. These include dental implants after an accident or in cases of complete edentulousness. In the case of oligodontia (absence of six or more permanent teeth/ molars), schisis (“harelip”), trauma with loss of one or more incisors and canine teeth up to the age of 18, implants are also reimbursed from basic insurance. Dental implants cost

After the initial intake, we will create your personal treatment plan. Here we will also draw up a cost estimate. In some cases, dental implants are reimbursed. When are implants reimbursed?

Implants are in most cases not covered by basic insurance. However, there are some exceptions where you may be eligible: Reimbursement from basic insurance

  • Special dental care: For example, for congenital anomalies such as schisis, oligodontia (absence of multiple teeth/ molars), or if teeth have been lost due to severe trauma.
  • Click dentures: Implants to support full dentures in toothless jaws are often reimbursed. The prerequisite is prior approval from the health insurance company.

Reimbursement from additional insurance In other cases, you need additional dental insurance to cover (part of) the cost of implants. The amount of reimbursement varies by insurer and policy. Reimbursement for implants with dentures

For the elderly without their own teeth, an implant can make a world of difference. It provides a solid foundation for dentures, making them more comfortable and functional.

  • In many cases, implants for dentures are covered under basic insurance, provided you meet certain conditions.
  • We will guide you through the application process with your health insurance company. This begins with a comprehensive examination to assess the suitability of implants and to provide all the necessary documents correctly.

Reimbursements up to 18 years of age Children and adolescents up to 18 years of age can be reimbursed for implants under the basic insurance if necessary, e.g. in the case of:

  • Loss of teeth due to an accident.
  • Congenital dental abnormalities.
  • However, orthodontic treatments (such as braces) require supplemental insurance.

Cost of an implant

The cost of an implant depends on the treatment and additional techniques, such as:

  • Implant: From €1200.
  • Crown: Average €926.29.
  • Bone remodeling or click teeth: Additional costs possible.

The dentist will prepare a cost estimate in advance. With this you can check with your health insurance company to see which costs will be reimbursed. Without supplementary insurance, the costs are entirely at your own expense, unless you qualify for special dental care.
